Some Windows PCs are not directly compatible with some of the network services our SBCs use to advertise themselves on the network.  As a result, attempting to ping ts4720-serialnumber on your local network may result in a packet taking several seconds to return.  Worse, wireshark will produce some even more bizarre messages when trying to diagnose what the issue is.


As it turns out, the easy solution is to edit the Hosts file on the Windows machine.  This file is located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts .  Adding the IP address and local hostname of your SBC will generally fix this problem.
